Recently, Vidya spotted director Raj Kumar Hirani at the Carter Road promenade in Bandra while she was in her car. The actress immediately rolled down the glass of her window and called out to the director. But Raju failed to notice her. Vidya then stopped her car and got down to meet him. And with that she brought the traffic to a
standstill too!

fashion sense.

However, we were taken aback when we were told that none other than Hrithik Roshan was all praises for Kangna’s ‘dancing’ abilities! It was difficult for Kangna to believe it. “I don’t think I am a good dancer but for some strange reason, Hrithik feels that I dance very well,” she says excitedly. Now all those who thought that this petite beauty has two left feet can go bite the dust! Or was Hrithik just being his kind, gentlemanly self?

How Amitabh and Jaya fell in love

Amitabh and Jaya

It might have been love at first sight with Amitabh, said veteran actress Jaya Bachchan when asked if she fell in love with the megastar instantly. In conversation with fashion designer duo Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla on their TV chat show "The First Ladies with Abu Sandeep", to be aired on NDTV Good Times, Jaya said "Maybe" when asked whether love happened instantly.

Recounting her first meeting with Big B, the 60-year-old actress said: "I first saw Amitji in an institute. I saw him, I liked him and I told my friends that you know he has got a personality. And they said what...he looks like a stick!"

"He was very thin and his face was full of his eyes. I remember I fought with my friends and said he is different."

Jaya, who has been married to the actor for 35 years now, also narrated how the two had to tie the nuptial knot under hurried circumstances. "We all, a group of friends, had decided that if 'Zanjeer' did well, we'll all go for a holiday to London. And it did well. But Amitji's parents objected and said that you can't go for a holiday with a girl without being married to her."

"Of course, he had told his parents that this is the girl that he wanted to marry. So, he said what's the big deal, we'll get married. We just decided. I was shooting in Calcutta and he called me and said that this is what happened. I said it's okay with me. But you will have to ask my parents. He said okay I'll call them and call you back. He spoke to my parents and my parents were like 'ahem hmm mm ok'," she said.

The actress, who starred in films 'Chupke Chupke', 'Guddi, 'Bawarchi', 'Silsila', 'Abhimaan', 'Mili', 'Khamoshi', 'Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham', 'Fiza' and 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' apart from several other hits, says a lot changed when she had to shift in with her in-laws after her marriage.

"There is a difference between a daughter and a daughter-in-law. I don't know why but you feel you don't need to respect your parents. You take your parents for granted. With your in-laws, you can't do that and later on things change. Today, I feel more of a Bachchan than a Bhaduri (her maiden name)," she said.

In the celebrity question round of the show, Maharani Padmini Devi of Jaipur asked Jaya about which role does she like the most - daughter, actress, wife, mother or grand mother?

To this, the actress, who is also a prominent member of Parliament promptly replied: "Grandmother! It's of course grandmother. No responsibility."

The entire episode of "The First Ladies with Abu Sandeep" would be on air at 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Akshay Kumar's special screening of CC2C for cab drivers in New York

Akshay Kumar's special screening of CC2C for cab drivers in New York Now, now...talk about Bollywood going places, its time the Hollywood beauties make way for our very own filmis. Our superstars have pompously walked down the Oscar's red carpet, Cannes red carpet et al, and now even H-town studious is rolling out their plush carpets for them.

This week Chandni Chowk to China had a lavish premiere in the same studio in LA, where Angelina Jolie and Clint Eastwood recently premiered their movie, Changeling . The paparazzi went ga-ga over our stars, and for once we don't think they missed the hottest jodi in Hollywood, Angie & Brad. They were way too besotted by the gorgeous Akshay and Deepika jodi . Can't blame them, such are our Indian beauties, no?

We also heard that Akki has planned a special screening for cabbies in New York (there are a whole lot of Indian and Bangladeshi cabbies in the city). The intention was to make a connect with the masses. Our Akki boy is a smart dude, indeed. As far as promoting and marketing his movies goes... he's trying to blow every horn in the city!

Katrina wants them young…

/photo.cms?msid=3955392 She's the hottest property in tinseltown, and she's working with the hottest men, too (read: Akshay and Salman). Only one little hitch...they are all 40 plus super-heroes. Sorry dudes...we don't' mean to offend ya, and we know you guys are ruling the roost, but the lovely Katz wants to work with 20 somethings, too. Kya karen?

When we asked her how she felt about finally getting a chance to work with stars of her age (John and Ranbir), she chirpily replied, "At the start of my career I've worked with the best and the biggest of stars like Akshay and Salman. My best friend is Boney Kapoor's son Arjun, we hangout with David Dhawan's son, and we're all friendly with Ranbir too. I have the best of all worlds.

"I'm equally excited about Rajkumar Santoshi's film with Ranbir; as I am about Priyan's 'De Dana Dan' with Akshay. Times seem exciting." Yeah, yeah, it's exciting alright. The little buzz about Ranbir and Katrina getting close and comfy has sent the media-wallahs in to a tizzy. But poor gal...we heard that RK ended up hurting her while doing an action sequence.

Now we know why Akshay is her favourite co-star, he can kickass and play knight-in-shining-costumes to his screen ladies – all with perfect finesse. Though we have to admit...Ranbir is the cutest lover-boy on-screen, Katz. And we guess off-screen, too (how would you know, eh?). Well, the lovely Ms.Padukone could tell you more if you want. Not that she's dying to. Lol!

Dil chahta hai, again

While Preity has taken the signing amount from the Yash Raj camp, Aamir is in advanced talks with YRF.

Our source from YRF said, “The script penned down by Yash Chopra is ready. And like all Chopra films, this one promises to be a romance as well. And as seen in earlier films directed by Yash Chopra, it is the heroine who plays a crucial role in it. The story demanded a heroine exuding absolute purity and innocence and Yash Chopra has roped in Preity for it. The story encapsulates the journey of two strangers who meet and share deep love in old age too.”

Our source added, “Preity has already marked out dates for this yet-untitled film. Yash Chopra plans to start shooting in July and finish shooting in one schedule. The film is expected to hit the theatres in December.”
Yash Chopra has Aamir Khan in mind for the male lead. Our source said, “There are talks on with Aamir currently. Yash Chopra was impressed with the magic that Aamir and Preity had created in Dil Chahta Hai. Therefore he is keen to have the two in this film.”

‘I hope to play ‘boy’ roles till I am 40’

Films.

But the actor isn’t too keen to ‘grow up’ on screen and says he hopes to continue playing boyish roles. But what he’s looking forward to most right now, is being directed by dad Pankaj Kapur.

You're going to be directed by your dad?
That's right. We’re looking at starting very soon. I’ve pushed him for years to take the plunge as a director. He has all these lovely scripts lying around that only his family knows about. I really wanted him to direct me... He has finally come up with something he thinks will do justice to both of us. I’m very excited about working with dad.

Did the irony of the coincidence of your break-up with Kareena and the success of Jab We Met strike you?
It’s too glaring for me not to notice it. But that’s life for you. I’ve always accepted what life gives you. I think what defines my life is not what happens to me but how I deal with it.

Do questions on Kareena make you uncomfortable?
No. It’s been a year now. The pain has receded. I know that as an actor I’m not allowed to have complete privacy even if I want to. I try to keep my personal life to myself. I want to stay connected with the person I am. Sometimes in our world we’re pulled into an illusory state. I’ll do as much as possible to protect my privacy.

Is Sania Mirza a part of your private space?
I don’t like talking about her. But we do know each other and we’re friends. A lot of people have been speculating about my personal life. And I’ve always said I’m a normal person. If I’m in a relationship, I won’t be sitting alone. I’ll go out with the person I'm in a relationship with. So people will know if something is on.

Since you’re seen with Sania, can one conclude you’re seeing her?
I go out with a lot of friends. But she’s a well-known face. So when I’m seen with her, it becomes a matter of discussion.

Did the light-hearted mood of Kismat Konnection help you get over the break-up with Kareena?
More than the film, I had my family and friends who helped me get over that phase. I don't think a film can do it for me.

New, younger talent has come in after you. Do you still feel like a new kid on the block?
Not so new. But I hope to play ‘boy’ roles until I’m 40. Other actors are doing it. So why not me? I’m very happy being young. I started at 23. I couldn’t have asked for more. I’m quite happy playing the college student. As an actor I’m looking for good roles...boy or man is secondary.

You don’t prefer to work with a particular group of directors?
I don’t keep working with the same set of directors. Of course, it’s great to work in the comfort zone. I like going from a Sooraj Barjatya to an Imtiaz Ali. Or from Imtiaz, who’s 30-plus, to Aziz Mirza, who’s 60-plus. And now I’ve gone to Vishal. The only guy I’ve worked with more than once is Ken Ghosh. Now, we’re doing our third film together. I also have my first film with Yash Raj Films where I co-star with Rani Mukerji.
